Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil, born on the 12th of July 1988, is a Canadian performer and actress. In 2005, O'Neil won the third season of Canadian Idol, the first Canadian female to have won. She is an actress and is known for her roles as Two and Rebecca and Portia Lin in the Syfy science fiction series Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama series The Rookie.Although she was greatly praised by the judges, she had a huge setback in both the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals, because she was in the lowest three and the bottom two, respectively. After being stunned, judges asked viewers to vote for Melissa who was the most enthusiastic contestant. From that point on, O'Neil never fell back into the bottom three after repeatedly receiving praise for her performances, with judge Zack Werner declaring that she was "a threat to win the entire contest". O'Neil together with Rex Goudie, reached the finals on September 7th in 2005. Werner, a judge famously said that the headlines in the following day's papers would be "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away. Long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie in the grand final results ceremony on September 14 on the 14th of September, 2005. She also was crowned the third Canadian Idol and the first female winner.
